Overview
  • Hours per week: 4-16 hours (variable)
  • Total Hours: 65+ hours (minimum for high school students to receive school credit;

    College students can also receive unit credits based on type of work experience)

  • Period: 10-12 weeks (variable)
  • Paid/Unpaid Opportunity: Employer's discretion
  • Student Age Range: 16-24 years

Your regional Youth Talent Advisor can help connect to student from the local high schools,

colleges, universities and local youth organizations.

Prepare for Hosting an Youth Work Experience
  • Can you support a youth?
  • Is the opprtunity paid or unpaid?
  • What efforts and training will be assigned to the youth(s)?
  • Who will be assigned to supervise the youth(s)?
Steps to Take
  • Complete the Opportunity Request Form providing the details of the opportunity.
  • Meet with Youth Talent Advisor to determine capacity to host youths.
  • Review candidates provided by Youth Talent Advisor
  • Interview selected candidates
  • Communicate the results of interviews to the Youth Talent Advisor
  • Welcome new youth to the team and develop weekly wchedulecommencing the opportunity
  • Communicate with Youth Talent Advisor on youth's progress
  • Complete periodic evaluations
